Can Goats Eat Strawberries? 🍓

As a general rule of thumb, what we humans love eating, goats love eating as well.

Why is that?

We’ve been raising goats in our home for years and years, and what we ate, we fed the same thing to our goats. That’s how we came to know what our goats liked eating and what they did not.

Usually, if the food is not rotten, or doesn’t smell bad for some reason, consider it gone when you place it on a goat’s plate.

You may still be wondering and asking yourself, all of this is great, but can goats eat strawberries or not?

The short answer: Yes!

Just make sure that you cut the strawberries into small pieces so they don’t choke when they start gobbling them down! Because they eat fast when they love the taste of something!

As for the long answer, there’s a lot more to this question so you may want to keep on reading…

Even though strawberries are good for your heart, which automatically means they’re good for the heart of your goats as well – you shouldn’t feed strawberries to your goats too often, much like you wouldn’t eat too much of them yourself.

Why?

Because you’ve heard it at least a hundred times that eating too much of sugar is bad for your health, even if it comes from natural sources like strawberries.

While it is not good for humans, it is not good for animals at the same time.

While strawberries are a healthful addition to any diet, people looking to eat them should do so in moderation. Fruits typically are high in sugar despite their nutritional benefits, and strawberries contain 8.12 mg of sugars per cup.

And a little later, we established that goats will get sick because of the same reasons a human would. So, in a nutshell, whatever you would avoid eating, don’t feed that same thing to your goats.

But, here’s a more practical answer…

Just like other animals, you should not be feeding goats onion, garlic chocolate, caffeine, and other chemically-made stuff that’s not good for human health.

What Fruits Can Goats Eat?

Any food that tastes good to most humans, goats would gobble it down real quick, especially when they’re hungry.

But, just to name a few, here’s a list of foods any goat would love to eat!
